JFK GRAD NITE 2007

Dear Parents of Seniors:

In case you haven’t heard, beginning this year Grad Nite at Kennedy is now a parent planned event. This is our first year doing this on campus and we want it to be really good. We have been meeting for about two months and we have a lot of exciting things planned. Take a look at the enclosed flier to see some of the events which will be happening at Grad Nite 2007. You can also check our webpage at www.kennedygradnite.com for more news as we get closer to the event.

You might ask, “What is Grad Nite anyway?” Grad Nite is an all-night alcohol and drug free celebration on campus for graduating seniors planned by parents and friends with help from the community. The ticket price of $75.00 includes admission, food, and entertainment. (This is a real bargain, just ask around about what other schools are charging!) No money will be needed at the event. Grad Nite 2007 begins at 11:45 p.m. on Monday night, June 18 and continues until 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19.

First of all, we hope that you will encourage your senior to attend Grad Nite. This will be their last time together as high school students and as a graduating class and they will have a really good time in a safe environment. We have many exciting activities planned in addition to food and dancing so there is no way they will get bored. Tired maybe, but not bored!

Second, we need lots of volunteers. Don’t miss out on the fun and excitement of planning this big event. We need volunteers on the following committees: Entertainment, Food, Fund-Raising, Prizes, Publicity, Clean Up, Security, Hospitality and Decorations. We can also use donations in order to keep the price of the tickets reasonable so if you own a business or know someone who does who could either donate money, something we could use during the event, or something we could use for prizes, please let us know.

To volunteer, you can either call , fill out the enclosed committee volunteer form (“Parents of all students: GRADNITE 2007 NEEDS YOU!”) and submit or mail it to the address at the top of this letter, send an email to info@kennedygradnite.com or go to www.kennedygradnite.com and click on “Letter to Parents - We Need Volunteers!” to submit your response online. Please note that if you are not able to volunteer in some way, we may ask you to donate water, soda or some kind of breakfast snack (we’ll let you know!)

If all goes as planned, we will begin selling tickets on Tuesday, May 22 during lunch and then again after school. On the first day of ticket sales, the price will only be $60.00. After that, tickets will be $75.00 until June 9 when the price will go up to $80.00. Also, due to school policy, we will only be able to take cash or money orders for payment. No personal checks. We plan on being at the school most days during lunch and after school (1:30-3:00). Please fill out the attached Ticket Purchase Agreement/Medical Release and submit along with your payment. No ticket will be sold without a signed Ticket Purchase Agreement/Medical Release. Also, the student must also bring their current Kennedy ID card when purchasing their ticket. If you have further questions, please let us know!
